abstract

despite the various researches done in the field of the implication of colours, the studies related to the meaning of colours in blind poets’ works are almost rare. this is why this paper aims to deal with the implication of colours in the blind abbasid poet bashar ibn burd’s poetry. the paper studies the role of memory as well as of senses- other than vision- in bashar’s poetic function and the differences between his attitudes and non-blinds’ viewpoints. to show the different aspects of symbolic appearance of colours in bashar’s poetry ,this paper uses a descriptive-analytical method. the first section describes the position colours have in various sides of life and specially as they mean in the mentality of the blind. the second section studies the implications of different colours in bashar’s mind and poetry.

The diversity and implications of animal structural colours.

Diffraction gratings were believed to be a rare cause of colour in nature.
